Hey Guys,
i had a really good time a few days ago at the academy. we were asked to create a very creative shot and it was no holds barred, so you can just imagine my excitement when i heard this. for my model i chose my friend, Marian and truth be told she is one of the most photogenic people on the planet. you can see all of her graphic design and illustration work
here
with that being said, my theme was a parrot. its lush electric blue feathers and the way pinks, greens and yellows play around it just simply makes me stand in awe. it suits marian's personality as well because she was eccentric, quite chatty (in a good way) and just open to the world.
now your favourite part, how to recreate this.
- start with a clean face. add primer around the face but avoid the eye area as some primers will tend to sting the eye.
- conceal the eye area. never use foundation because of some foundations contain sunscreen that can sting when applied around the eye area. once concealing is done, apply some translucent powder to set the concealer.
- create the eyebrows. never EVER go overboard with your eyebrows. always lightly apply dark brown eyeshadow and clear mascara OR gel liner in brown to fill the brows.
- once you have your brows, start your smokey eye technique by filing in the lid with some electric blue eyeshadow. dont apply too much, just slowly build it up.
- next, apply your hot pink shadow on the socket area and blend this with the electric blue. bring the pink colour to the bridge of your nose and have the ends sharp to create an edge for a more "bird-like" effect.
- next blend the pink shadow with some gold over the brow bone. this will give your look depth and definition.
- apply gold eyeliner around the lids. this will boost up the look further and create the feature on the eyes. then apply black eyeliner near and close to the lashline to help the lashes look fuller. curl your lashes and apply a coat of mascara to finish it of.
- apply your base. it must be seemless and perfect because the focus has to be on the eyes.
- lastly, apply your lashes (i used napoleon perdis birds of paradise $22.00) make sure that the colourful part stays out on the end to pop the eyes and have a bird like effect that it has opened its wings.
there you go, thats my creative look. there are more looks to come so stick around!
cheers!
